Please note selling these prohibited items on ebay can lead to your ebay account being terminated. In the worst case, you may face criminal charges. So here are the 9 items :

1. No wildlife animals, pets are allowed to be sold on ebay. This is really due to animal conservation laws and offenders may face prosecution.

2. No fake or counterfeit currencies may be sold on ebay

3. Any kind of downloadable media. This usually refers to any video, software and any digital media items. There are exceptions in this case which is if you hold the copyright or the sole owner of the item. All others are in violation of the ebay vero program. Do note, you may be asked by ebay to verify your copyright ownership, trademark etc if you sell it on ebay

4. School Related Software. This means any school related software that is being sold at a reduced pricing to student and researchers.

5. This is similar to point 3 except it deals with copyright, trademark etc. Examples include brand names of popular consumer products. Beta software, CD, VCD and DVD material in which there is no proof of authenticity.

6. Prohibited Goods from other countries cannot be sold on ebay

7. Names, faces, signatures of people without their proper permission

8. Obviously, you can’t sell any kind of weapons or ammunition on ebay

9. You can’t sell any government documents or personal documents such as identification card, passport, car license etc.

Ebay Merchandise - 3 Easy Sources!

October 30th, 2009 admin No comments
Ebay is one of the easiest way to make money online. A common problem most people run into is the issue of what to sell. If you are just starting off, chances are you probably do not have a large amount of cash to lay out for merchandise and are wondering where people get all of their “stuff” to sell. The answer is closer to you than you think.

1. Clean out your basement, attic, and closets. Most people are sitting on a treasure trove of collectable items and aren’t even aware of it. A good rule of thumb to go by is that if you haven’t touched it in the last 6 months to a year you probably don’t really need it- so sell it.

2. Visit your local yard sale. In the past, yard sales were the way to go when a person needed to create room in the garages. The good thing about yard sales is that usually the people hosting it are not dealers and have no idea to an items specific value. You can typically buy things at prices of 75% - 90% of their retail value.

3. Visit your local thrift stores. Depending on where you are located you can usually find at least 2 or 3 well stocked thrift stores in your community. From the Goodwill and Salvation Army to other non profits looking to make a buck thrift stores offer you an excellent source of merchandise. Most thrift stores employ low priced wage workers or volunteers who don’t have a clue as to an items true market value so you can often buy things at a significant reduction in value.

Using these three sources you will be well on your way to discovering the merchandise that will open the door to internet riches.

So, Can You Really Sell EBooks On EBay And Make Cold Hard Cash?

October 30th, 2009 admin No comments
Selling eBooks on eBay, and making any worthwhile profit from doing so, is becoming more and more difficult.

Gone are the days when you could sell someone else’s books on eBay, and it’s becoming considerably more difficult to sell ebooks that you might have written yourself or via Public Domain Publications.

Many people seem to think that ebooks should be freely available (because so many good ones are)and there are some excellent ebooks for sale on ebay but rarely do they sell for more than a few pennies.

So purchase ebooks from eBay by all means, there’s just no money in trying to sell ebooks on eBay.

There’s also the problem of who owns the copyright to the ebook you are trying to sell.
This has become so much of a headache that eBay has come up with it’s own policy to try and deal with this situation.

HERE’S AN EXCEPT FROM EBAY’S VERO POLICY.

* eBay’s Verified Rights Owner (VeRO) Program

* eBay’s VeRO Program was developed to facilitate cooperation between eBay and rights owners protecting their intellectual property rights.

* Highlights of the program include:

* Expeditious removal of listings reported to eBay by over 5,000 intellectual property rights owners

* Specific, detailed warnings designed to deter the listing of potentially infringing items before a listing is posted on eBay

* Voluntary daily monitoring and removal by eBay of listings offering potentially counterfeit or otherwise infringing items

* Voluntary daily monitoring and removal by eBay of listings that violate eBay policies designed to prevent the listing of infringing items on eBay

* Ability to save searches and have the results emailed to you through Favorite Searches

* Suspension of repeat offenders

* Continuing efforts to identify and prevent previously suspended users from reregistering for eBay

* Cooperation with rights owners seeking personal information on alleged infringers.

* However, because eBay is not an expert in your intellectual property rights, and cannot verify that sellers have the right to sell the millions of items they post on eBay each day, we need your help in identifying listings which do not appear on their face to infringe your rights.

To read the policy in it’s entirety go to:-

http://pages.ebay.com/help/confidence/ia/protecting_intellectual_property.html

KEEP IT SIMPLE AND STRAIGHTFORWARD

Now there is a way around this that is easier to achieve than most people believe.

The easiest way of making sure that you don’t fall foul of eBay’s VeRo Policy is:

* Create The Products Yourself

The easiest way of overcoming peoples beliefs that your ebook should be freely availablen is.

* Don’t have your ebook look like an ebook!

So when is an ebook not an ebook?

When it is perceived by the visitors to your eBay Sales Page as something else.

For example, if you bundled together your ebook with a printed version of the book, and or an Audio CD or Video DVD, your product would have a much higher perceived value.

SO.

* You create a printed version of your ebook contained in a nicely printed folder.

* You take a digital photograph of the cover of your printed version, surrounded by the audio CD and or Video DVD and use this as your Gallery Picture when you start to create your purchase It Now, eBay auction page.

* You use the same picture or pictures throughout your eBay Auction sales page.

People are used to seeing software generated ebook covers on eBay but by using the above method your product will not be perceived as an ebook.

* In your sales page include the information that the entire package can be digitally downloaded by the customer if they wish.

Do this and you will be one of the very few sellers on eBay using this technique and take my word for it, this technique is very powerful indeed.

Now this might sound like a lot of work or seem over complicated, yet when you come to think of it, most PCs and Laptops come complete with hardware and software for creating Audio CDs and DVDs? and if you don’t have this kind of equipment you can get it on eBay relatively cheaply.

SO HOW DO YOU DO IT?

With this technology it is fairly simple to create Audio CDs and Video DVDs.

* You could record or have somebody else record your ebook onto Audio CD or DVD and provide it as an audio product within your product bundle. Many people find it easier to learn by “listening” than by reading.

* If the subject matter of your book included information on how to use a particular type of software for example, you could use a video capture program such as “Camtasia” (http://www.techsmith.com) to capture the sequence of steps that would need to be gone through in order to use the software effectively.

* If your ebook covered a practical subject like gardening for instance you could use a Camcorder to take actual “videos” of the various aspects of gardening, copy them to DVD and make it part of your “bundle”. Many people find it easier to learn by “seeing” than by reading or listening.

Remember that your product bundle can be downloaded by your customer (assuming you have set your product up this way) but don’t be afraid to provide them with the printed version of your book along with the Audio and Video DVDs if that’s what they prefer.

Your ebook presented in this way will represent a much higher value than the traditional way of selling ebooks on eBay and therefore you can ask a much higher price than you would otherwise.

If all this sounds a little daunting to you I suggest that you carry out some research into what you’ve read here.
More information on how to create Books and Videos to sell on eBay can be found at the end of this article.

SO, CAN YOU REALLY SELL EBOOKS ON EBAY AND MAKE COLD HARD CASH?

Sure you can.

By following the methods described here, selling ebooks on eBay really can pay off Big Time and you wont have broken any of eBay’s rules.

WebSites Like Swoopo - How Do They Work?

October 30th, 2009 admin No comments
About four months ago, a whole new fad started. What was this fad? Entertainment shopping auction sites. These sites are not like the traditional auction sites like eBay where, you bid as many times as you like, and the person with the highest bid at the end, walks away with the product for that final bid price. This changed when sites like Swoopo stepped in. Here are the basics of Entertainment shopping auctions:

- Bids are purchased before hand. You can purchase any number of bids for a fee. Depending on the actual auction site, this fee ranges from 10 cents to $1 per bid.
- You then bid on the product you like. Usually each bid will increase the products final cost by a given amount. Most are between 1 cent and 15 cents per bid placed. Each and every time you bid, you will lose one of your prepurchased bids in your account
- When a new bid is placed, more time is added onto the Auction. Swoopo adds 15 second for every bid, but other sites range in the time increments they add.
- When someone fails to bid by the time the timer runs out, the last person to bid walks away with the product, usually at a major discount to its retail value. The product is then paid for by the winner and shipped to their home or office. The other people who participated int he auction lose the money they paid for their bids, and must try their luck at another auction.

These types of sites, Swoopo, being the first, have really taken off as of late. Because of this, the larger, original Entertainment auction sites seem to provide a bit less of a discount since the competition in bidding is becoming so fierce. This has allowed numerous other Entertainment shopping sites to also enter the industry, meaning a better deal for us bidders.

Top Ten Sellers on EBay

October 30th, 2009 admin No comments
Yesterday I did a search on the term ‘what are the top ten sellers on eBay’. I believed that it was information that a lot of people would pay handsomely for, and so I did the only thing I could think of and started to investigate.

Being able to find items that are in hot demand on eBay is an ability which I wish I had been born with, alas the reality is that uncovering such information was going to take some hard work (sigh!). I had come across many tools which could drill into eBay at will, reporting back information about products that are making their eBay power sellers huge profits, and it was for this very reason that I wanted to get to the bottom of how to find the top ten sellers on eBay.

Well, if you were to liken an eBay business to a conventional business then you would quickly see why the world has gone eBay crazy. Knowing the products which are the top ten sellers on eBay will allow you to go and source those products in full confidence that you have a ready made market of buyers just waiting to bid on our stock. I have explained on many occasions how to spy on eBay sellers, and if you are not sure how to do it then may I suggest you do a little search engine scouting about and you will very quickly come across some very good and free tools. Go and Google the term and you will instantly find links to the home pages of some good eBay spy tools. When you find one simply drop in the eBay seller ID that you want to take a look at and the software will give you a detailed report on every product the seller has sold for the last 90 days on eBay. Again this knowledge is like gold dust -and I would urge any would be ‘eBayer’ to use tools such as these to determine which are the current top ten sellers on eBay.

The only thing that will then hold you back is psychology. If you have the nerve to trust the information that is at your disposal then you truly can make some very good money on eBay. In a traditional business it is very hard to determine what sort of products you should be bringing to market, however with eBay much of that work and guesswork ‘can’ be eliminated with free spy tools. This article is just a little taster and should help any newbie in the right direction. However, if you want to start and exploit eBay today in a way which could generate thousands in profits for you every month then I would encourage you to take look at some of these free tools.

How to Sell on eBay - Keyword Research

October 30th, 2009 admin No comments
In my first How to Sell on eBay article I gave you a broad outline of how to get started on eBay, but here I want to flesh it out a little bit more. In order to learn How to Sell on eBay you need to understand a little about how it works from the buyers side of things.

The Importance of Keywords

When you first log in to your eBay account you will see the most important feature of the page, which is the search bar, This is where potential buyers would type in their keywords for whatever it is they are looking for. Try opening up your eBay account and typing in something really obscure in this search bar and see what comes up. I put in Indian Postage Stamps and got some results for that!

Keywords are very important for both buyers and sellers as they are the words or phrases which describe exactly what is being looked for or sold. The importance of keywords or phrases in learning how to sell on eBay can’t be overestimated, as these are basically what connects the buyer with the seller. When eBay searches for listings matching the keywords you have typed into the search bar, it attempts to match the keywords which have been entered with the words in the titles or descriptions of items for sale, in order to bring back the most relevant listings to your search. As someone who is selling on eBay, if you don’t have the right keywords or phrases in your title you’re missing the main opportunity to bring traffic to your listing!

The Importance of Categories

Although relevant keywords and phrases are important to your eBay business, they are not the only way people search for stuff for sale. You can also browse listings by using eBay’s categories, which are just underneath the search bar. If you click on a category it will take you to a list of items for sale and you can further refine your search by using the options on the left. A category search is probably something that an impulse buyer would use, in other words someone who is not looking for anything specific. So if you want to learn how to sell on eBay, you need be sure to enter your items in the correct search category for maximum exposure.

Although most of your buyers will find your listings of items to sell through a keyword search, it is important not to underestimate the group of users who will always prefer categories, as impulse purchases can be very important to the overall success of your business.

eBay’s Specialty Sites

As the name suggests specialty sites cater for buyers with very specific demands and this could be something that you could use to advantage as you become more experienced at how to sell on eBay.

eBay Motors is exactly the same as eBay, except that it is strictly for vehicles.

eBay Express provides an alternative for those buyers who prefer the traditional e-commerce experience, such as the one Amazon provides. The main benefit for buyers is that they can load up all their purchases into a shopping cart and make just one payment. They also get a much higher level of security when they purchase here, as not just any seller can use eBay Express. There is a strict criteria that includes providing quality, brand-new goods, accepting returns and having a very good feedback rating.

eBay Stores are mini-sites run off the eBay server. A store gives you your own separate web page and url and allows buyers to search your listings, just as they would on a standalone website. Once again there are some criteria to fulfill before you can start a store and this would be something to consider after you have gained some good feedback for your sales and more experience of how to sell on eBay.

To Sum Up

If you scroll to the bottom of the Buy page on eBay, you can click on Keywords and also on Popular Searches to see what keywords your prospective buyers are using.

Learning to Sell on eBay

October 30th, 2009 admin No comments
Discover the secrets of profits on eBay!

If you are serious about starting a profitable eBay business, I will show you how to get started in your own eBay business from your home, and share my personal experiences to guide you to places on the internet where you can learn how to build your own website, increase your traffic, and market your products.

No Need to sign up for expensive classes. I have been there, done that already.

So You Think You Can eBay is an essential website that can save you literally thousands of dollars in coaching and classes, and skyrocket your profits.  If you want the inside scoop on a true work from home eBay industry, I can help you gain a killer advantage.

Learning to sell on eBay can be very profitable. How you sell on eBay is the secret. Even though I am experienced, I am still learning and I always have an eBay book close by. Actually, the learning experience eBay offers is really exciting and grows on you with time. I can tell by reading, trial and error (lot of error), and tweeking my style, that I have gotten better in selling my items on eBay.

Here is My Story

I have always enjoyed selling things. From Camp Fire Girl Candy to hand painted ceramic pottery, plants, to whatever I thought people wanted. It is just me. That is what I like to do. Like many others, I read how people are powersellers on eBay and how they were making tons of money selling stuff on eBay. So off I went to start my eBay business. Did not know a thing about eBay or what they even offer in the way of tools to help me with my business, but there I went jumping in all the way. I would either make a ton of money and swim, or fail miserably, sink and move on. Either way, I always learn something from what I do, so it would all be good one way or another. It turned out to be better than I thought!

My first adventure on eBay was to sell my beautiful hand painted Vietnamese ceramic pottery. I had designed these sets and worked with the Vietnamese manufacturers by email and ordered a container load of the pottery. Now That was an adventure. I do not speak the language and it was a challenge communicating with the vendors.

It was great because the sets came with usually 4 in the set stacked very neatly inside of each other, so they were in 1 box and expertly packed. The pottery was very inexpensive per set even with the shipping added on. The pottery came by ship to land, then by rail and finally loaded onto an 18 wheeler and driven to west Texas. The pottery made it with very few pieces broken. So now I had a product to sell and sell I did! But, there was a big, big problem. Just because the pottery made it thousands of miles by different methods of transportation did not mean that I could ship 1 single box through the post office, or other carriers and have it arrive unbroken.

Next we divided up the sets and packed the pots individually with with lots of bubblewrap and popcorn. The shipping was 4 times more than the product! But because I was so successful at selling the pottery on eBay, I did not want to give up. I lasted about 2 months and shipped a couple hundred boxes. My customers were really satisfied and wanted more, but I was not making any money. Back to the drawing boards. Should we expect to make money on ebay? Yes! Bottom line: I did find my niche and sell successfully on eBay every day. Not only that, I buy on eBay and save hundreds and you can too!

I buy and sell for several reasons

Here are some Real Life experiences that could also happen to you! Yes, making money online is a great reason to become an active eBay seller. There are no guarantees, but at the very least, selling on eBay is fun. I sell many items so I can buy other merchandise with the money I make. I have already bought all my Christmas presents on eBay (Yes, I am one of those people) and I have found some real treasures! My son played Saxophone in high school and was even in a Jazz Band. I was able to find a very well taken care of Saxophone for $65! A new one can cost anywhere from $450 on up. (The person that owned it, played professionally and kept the Saxophone in perfect condition. He had several Saxophones and wanted to get a new one, so it was time to sell of the one he no longer uses. His loss was my gain and on it goes).

My Native Texas husband collects Armadillo figurines and I have found some very unique and interesting ones to add to his collection including several pins from the Lions club. David is a member of a Lions club, so this was perfect. I plan on putting them in a shadow box. The pins are very unique and by framing them it will make a very nice Christmas present. (shhh, do not tell him)

In another instance, my best girlfriend is a letter carrier and every year I can find something related to the postal business. I found a pewter sculpture that I know usually sells for a lot more than what I paid for it and it is signed by the artist who is now deceased so you know what a treasure this is. As I sell my products, I start to look for a Christmas present. If I win the bid, then I pay for it from my PayPal account. It is only the beginning of August and my entire family and friends will have a very Merry Christmas!

But here is another Real Life experience for everyday living. Our ice maker on a 3 year old side by side refrigerator/freezer went out. No ice for us. I asked Sears about the part needed and it listed for $134 plus installation of about $75. So we were looking at over $200 to get the ice maker back up and running. I found the exact same brand new part on eBay for $34. My husband and I undid two screws, unplugged the part, slid the new part back in and hooked it all back up and saved a ton of money. Could your family use an extra $175 saved all because you knew how to utilize eBay? The obvious answer is yes!

So You Think You Can eBay is a starting point for you to get involved without paying a high fee for classes that are often not worth the money. Take advantage of my mistakes, my learning curve, and my great tips and secrets to launch your eBay business the right way.

There are so many eBay books available and I will be reviewing books on eBay Book Buzz and hope if you read or have read the book on review, that you will comment and help share helpful tips to others. Select your category properly. Do some research by searching products that are close to the item that you are selling.

I want to stay home!

I have wanted my own business, but I also have always wanted to stay home. We have a beautiful home with a spring creek running the length of our backyard. I have a small zoo with a live bobcat, peacocks, specialty chickens and baby chicks, ducks, chow chow, and domestic cat. My next babies will be mini donkeys. With all the excitement around the house, who would want to leave! I have a green house and garden and love to cook from scratch with my fresh vegetables and herbs. We have a large screen TV, fast speed internet, and both of us are retired. I can not wait until they will deliver groceries from placing an order on the internet (we do know our Schwan man personally!

This is why I know I have found the perfect business. I do not have to get up early, put on makeup and get dressed. I do not drive to an office and listen to everyone complain about not having enough money. I get up, check my email, go through my google reader, cook breakfast, David goes downstairs to his office, and I get comfortable with my laptop. Life is good in eBay land.

Don’t Bid Blindly - Swoopo Strategy Guide

October 30th, 2009 admin No comments
There is a big discussion if Swoopo is a scam. I find that many people do not really understand what Swoopo is. Swoopo make the rules pretty straightforward on their website. Every user participating in an auction pays per bid so that one person can get a deal. By definition there is only going to be one person that benefits. The rest of the people will spend money and not win the auction. Their only reward is the adrenaline of partaking in an intense auction. In essence, everyone chips in so that one person can win. The enticement is that this one person could be you.

This is the main feature of Swoopo and every one who plays has to be aware of it. You pay to get a chance to win. It is like going to a flee market. You pay the entrance fee. If you do not find an item you are looking for, or if someone else gets it before you, your entrance fee is not refunded.

As with every competitive game, on Swoopo you come up against other people who have the same aim as you do: get a great deal. In order to beat them, you need to be smart about it. You need to learn Swoopo strategy

I do not believe that there are golden rules to winning an auction. After all, if everyone would find out, everyone would use it and it would not be a golden rule any more. There are definitely patterns for Swoopo competition. An intelligent person, given enough time, can analyze the dynamics of Swoopo.

There is definitely a strategy that can increase your chances of winning on Swoopo. Many people are lured by the catchy Swoopo ads and get very excited about the opportunity to get amazing 98% off deals. They place bids randomly and do not win anything. They spend a lot of their money and complain that Swoopo is a scam.

Not everyone has the time to spend looking at Swoopo and analyzing the intricate ways in which the voting crowds behave. There are free Swoopo guides available on the Internet which will offer you some excellent advice on increasing your chances of winning on Swoopo. They have spent the time, done their analysis, and condensed their recommendations.

Swoopo is a game that requires skills. You go up against people you already have some idea how to play. If you do not follow simple rules you are going to waste your money and your chances of winning an auction will be significantly smaller. In this game you compete against other people. You have to be smarter then them. Only one person wins.

Everyone before playing on Swoopo should get as many Swoopo tips as possible.  You should definitely do your research before you start bidding on Swoopo and try to be smarter than your opponents. There are websites that offer free Swoopo strategy advice. It cannot hurt checking them out.

The biggest advice anyone can give you on Swoopo is : “Don’t bid blindly”. Without strategy on Swoopo you will loose money and became one of these bitter people that claim that Swoopo is a scam.

Swoopo Scam Revealed

October 30th, 2009 admin No comments
Swoopo is not a scam. Swoopo is very controversial because for every auction there is only one winner and everyone else who bid forfeits their money

It looks like Swoopo is making a lot of money and doing anything illegal would simply be stupid. They can make a good profit without resorting to cheating. If they were cheating and were found out, that would drive people away fro m their golden goose. They do not have an incentive to cheat.

They have a brilliant business model which is very enticing to the human psyche. People like competition, an element of chance, and adore getting deals. Swoopo combines all this into one experience. By the nature of the site, most people do not win and may feel they were scammed. They have spent their own money, and did not get the deal that they wanted. In fact, most people do not win an auction and do not get to purchase anything from the site. They are bitter and call the site a scam.

Perhaps these people did not understand the rules, or simply had different expectations. Maybe they thought that by spending money on bids and bidding they are somehow guaranteeing themselves a win. Maybe they are just suspicious, given the general element of distrust in recent times. Whatever the cause of their dissatisfaction, they come up with the conclusion that Swoopo is a scam and yell it loudly in Internet forums. Maybe they are correct, but unless they know something that no one else does, they have no basis for their argument. They are simply bitter that they did not win anything.

Swoopo is Like a Carnival Game

Swoopo is like a carnival game. You pay $1 and get three balls. With these three balls you have to knock down three pins off a pedestal. If you succeed, you win a huge teddy bear worth a lot more than a dollar. Most of the time, however, you will not succeed. You have spent one dollar and the bear is not yours. However, you did get some kind of enjoyment out of the process. Otherwise, people would not participate.

Have I played? Sure. Have I won the huge teddy bear? Never. Do I think carnival games are a scam? No. The rules are set up so you are not likely to win, but knowing the right strategy you can increase your chances of winning the bear.

Swoopo: a Skill Based Game

There is definitely a strategy that can increase your chances of winning on Swoopo. Many people are lured by the catchy Swoopo ads and get very excited about the opportunity to get amazing 98% off deals. They place bids randomly and do not win anything. They spend a lot of their money and complain that Swoopo is a scam.

Swoopo is a game that requires skills. You go up against people you already have some idea how to play. If you do not follow simple rules you are going to waste your money and your chances of winning an auction will be significantly smaller.

There are several rules no one should break. Never bid before last 15 seconds of the auction. BidButler triggers after last 15 second of the auction, so if anyone has a BidButler set up for the given amount you wouldn’t even know that. Also there are people who do not understand this rule and bid ahead of time just loosing their money. There are websites that give you free Swoopo tips. You should definitely do your research before you start bidding on Swoopo. There are websites that offer free Swoopo strategy advice.

Swoopo Scam Revealed

Swoopo is not a scam in the sense that they cheat you. They definitely have the ability to cheat their users. They could hire people to win every auction so not only they would get the money from the bids but also keep all the products. This is a possibility, albeit an unlikely one. I do not believe they are doing that. I think their business model is so brilliant that they do not have to do that. By doing so, they would risk their reputation and with that their clientele. It is not worth to it to be a scam

People are certainly calling it a scam, but in a different sense of the word. This is the same way someone might call your state lottery a scam. Your buddy might say, “Don’t play the lottery, you will never win. It’s a scam.” Now everyone knows that a lottery is not scam. The rules are laid out clearly. The chances of winning are extremely slim. It is perfectly legal and no one is cheating.
